Interschool Cheer & Dance program toasted!

Members of the Ferny Grove Cheer & Dance squad were extremely excited as they joined the hosts of Channel Ten’s ‘Toasted TV’ program, at Seaworld on the Gold Coast yesterday, to film a special segment on the new Activebods’ Inter-school sport Cheer & Dance program.

Cheerleading

The Cheer & Dance program kicks off this week across several South East Queensland regions and is already fast becoming a very popular weekly sport option for students. ‘With the ever increasing levels of obesity and chronic health conditions now being seen across our children it is imperative that engaging sport options are available to all students, and particularly to those who may not normally be involved in interschool sporting teams”, said Ms. Collins, Activebods Executive Manager.

The ‘SHOUT! About it’ program, provides students with weekly Cheer & Dance lessons led by accredited coaches within their own school grounds. Each lesson is jam packed with high energy physical challenges, exciting stunts and funky dance steps, all aimed at not only improving student’s fitness levels but also contributing to the development of essential life-skills such as confidence, self-esteem, sportsmanship, leadership and the drive to challenge oneself to try…. and achieve! The lessons lead to the creation of team routines that are then performed at regional events at the end of each semester.

As Pip & Dan, the hosts of ‘Toasted TV’ discovered under the watchful eye of visiting USA Cheerleading Coach Russ Blackwell, getting involved in Cheerleading is challenging, exhilarating and lots of fun regardless of your size, shape, fitness level or experience! The episode of Toasted TV airs April 4th on Network 10 (7am – 8.30am).

Cheer & Dance, putting the spirit back into school sport!
